BK8MyPlay Editorial Policy

Purpose of This Policy

BK8MyPlay.com publishes educational content about online gambling for Malaysian readers. The way we research, write, fact-check, and update articles directly determines whether you can trust what you read. This editorial policy documents our standards so you can evaluate them.

If something we publish doesn't meet the standards described here, we want to know. See the corrections policy for how reader feedback is handled.

Editorial Mission

BK8MyPlay exists to help Malaysian readers understand online gambling products — how they work mathematically, what risks they carry, and how to make informed entertainment decisions. We are explicitly not in the business of:

  • Promising winning outcomes or selling "winning systems"
  • Recommending gambling as a source of income
  • Encouraging high-risk play or chasing losses
  • Hiding the structural reality that most gamblers lose long-term

Our content explains gambling honestly, including the unfavourable maths, so readers can decide whether and how to participate based on accurate understanding.

Content Standards

Accuracy

Every factual claim in published content must be sourceable to a primary or near-primary reference. The categories of facts we use and where they come from:

  • Game RTPs and mechanics: sourced from provider documentation (Pragmatic Play, JILI, PG Soft, NetEnt, Spadegaming, etc.) and certifying-lab publications (GLI, BMM Testlabs, iTech Labs). Verified against in-game info screens before publishing.
  • Regulatory information: Anjouan Gaming Authority publications, Malaysian Gaming Houses Act 1953, Betting Act 1953, MCMC public notices.
  • Market structure and odds: operator T&Cs, published wagering terms, sportsbook market rules.
  • Statistics: peer-reviewed gambling-research literature, regulatory body annual reports, industry research from companies like H2 Gambling Capital.

Where data conflicts across sources, we cite the more authoritative source and note the discrepancy. Where we genuinely don't know, we say so rather than guess.

Originality

Content is written by our editorial team, not generated wholesale by AI tools or copied from other sources. We use AI-assisted tools for proof-reading, draft outlines, and idea generation; the final published content is human-written, human-reviewed, and reflects our editorial judgement on what's true and useful.

Quotes, screenshots, and data tables from third parties are attributed to their source. We do not pass off external content as our own original work.

Honest Framing

Several content patterns are common in iGaming writing that we explicitly avoid:

  • Survivor-bias storytelling. "Player won RM500K from RM50 deposit" stories cherry-pick rare outcomes and misrepresent typical experience.
  • Marketing copy disguised as advice. "Try this strategy now" framing that's actually a thinly-veiled signup CTA.
  • Hidden affiliate links. All links to BK8 are openly part of an affiliate relationship; we don't disguise affiliate placement as objective recommendation.
  • Manipulating fear of missing out. "Limited time only", "exclusive bonus", "act now" urgency framing.
  • Minimising house edge or wagering rules. The maths is what it is; we don't soft-pedal it.

Responsible Gaming Integration

Every article on BK8MyPlay must include:

  • Visible age gate (18+ or 21+ as appropriate to the product covered)
  • Risk acknowledgement in the article body, not just a footer disclaimer
  • Active link to our responsible gaming guide
  • Befrienders Malaysia helpline (03-7627 2929) where direct gambling-harm context applies

Articles are reviewed pre-publishing for any framing that could plausibly encourage harmful play patterns. Edits are made to soften or remove such framing, regardless of search-traffic implications.

Fact-Checking Process

Each article goes through a 4-step verification:

  1. Source verification: every numbered fact (RTPs, odds, license numbers, dates) is checked against a primary source. Citations recorded in editorial notes.
  2. Mathematical review: probability claims, EV calculations, wagering arithmetic checked by a second editor. Worked examples verified independently.
  3. Responsible-gaming review: framing, links, age gates, helpline references verified.
  4. Final edit: readability, tone, internal-link sanity, schema validity confirmed before publishing.

Articles with significant data-heavy content (game pages, banking guides, regulatory pages) get a fifth review focused specifically on the data tables and quoted figures.

Sourcing and Citation

We aim for transparency in sourcing. Where claims are non-obvious, articles cite or link to the source. Where claims are common knowledge in the iGaming/sports-betting industry (e.g. "house edge on European roulette is 2.7%"), we don't cite to a specific source.

Sources we regularly use:

  • Provider documentation (Pragmatic Play, JILI, PG Soft, NetEnt, Spadegaming, Evolution Gaming, Microgaming, etc.)
  • Certifying labs (GLI, BMM Testlabs, iTech Labs)
  • Regulatory bodies (Anjouan Gaming Authority, MGA Malta, UKGC for international comparison)
  • Malaysian government publications (Companies Commission, Bank Negara, MCMC)
  • Peer-reviewed gambling-research literature (Journal of Gambling Studies, International Gambling Studies)
  • Industry research firms (H2 Gambling Capital, Gambling Insider, iGaming Business)

Update Cadence

Content is reviewed and updated on a defined schedule:

  • Hub pages: reviewed quarterly. Updated when underlying platform features or regulatory landscape changes.
  • Product-specific guides (banking, registration, app pages): updated whenever the underlying platform feature changes.
  • Game pages: RTP and feature information verified annually against current provider documentation.
  • Regulatory and licensing information: reviewed quarterly; updated immediately on any material regulatory change.
  • Promotion-related content: reviewed when underlying promotional structure changes.

Each article displays a "last reviewed" date so readers can see how current the content is.

Editorial Independence

BK8MyPlay's editorial team makes content decisions independent of BK8's commercial interests. Specifically:

  • BK8 does not pre-approve articles before publishing
  • BK8 cannot mandate that an article take a particular angle or omit specific facts
  • If BK8 raises an objection to something we've written that we consider factually accurate, the content stays
  • If BK8 changes its product (e.g., a new wagering structure on bonuses), we update content accordingly — but the update reflects what's accurate, not what's most flattering

Conflicts of interest are disclosed in our ethics & disclosure page.

What We Don't Cover

For transparency, the categories we explicitly avoid:

  • Daily lottery/toto results. BK8MyPlay is an educational resource, not a results publisher.
  • "Winning systems" or guaranteed-tip content. No such systems exist; articles explicitly debunk this category.
  • Real-money game tutorials for under-21 audiences. All gambling content carries strict 18+/21+ age gating.
  • Aggressive comparison hit pieces against other operators. We focus on educational mechanics rather than operator-vs-operator advocacy.
  • Speculative regulatory predictions. When the Malaysian regulatory landscape shifts, we report what's known, not what we guess might happen.

AI and Automation

We use AI tools for specific limited tasks:

  • Proofreading drafts for grammar and clarity
  • Suggesting article-structure outlines based on topic and audience
  • Summarising long source documents for editorial reference (not direct republishing)
  • Internal-link suggestions across the content library

We do not use AI to:

  • Generate full articles or large content blocks for publishing without human authorship and review
  • Fabricate testing data, session results, or first-person experience claims
  • Generate citations to non-existent sources
  • Replicate copyrighted content from other sites

Specifically: no published content includes fabricated personal-testing claims (specific spin counts, session bankroll figures, fake device benchmarks). When educational content references the gambling experience, it's framed as analytical rather than as personally-tested by our editorial team unless the team actually performed that test.

Reader Feedback

If you spot an error, disagree with a framing, or have feedback on our content, we want to hear it. The fastest channel:

  • Visit the contact page
  • Subject your message "Editorial feedback" or "Correction" with the URL of the relevant article
  • Describe the issue specifically — what's wrong, where you saw it, what the correct version should be

Editorial feedback is read by the team. Significant corrections are processed within 5 business days; see corrections policy for details.
